Medical University of Gdańsk joined EURAXESS

On April 16, 2024, the Gdańsk Medical University joined the pan-European initiative 𝐄𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐗𝐄𝐒𝐒, which brings together 43 countries from Europe and 9 centers located outside our continent, strengthening scientific cooperation with the rest of the world and promoting the European research market.

Since January 1, 2022, the National Agency for Academic Exchange has been the coordinator of EURAXESS in Poland. EURAXESS serves as a database of job offers and grants for scientists, as well as a source of tools, training, mentoring, and guides. Additionally, the network provides support and information on immigration issues before and during the stay of scientists in EURAXESS member countries, which already include over 670 centers belonging to this European initiative.

Through this platform, members also have the opportunity for networking, building scientific cooperation, posting their own job offers, and obtaining information on employing foreign scientists.

Institutions joining the EURAXESS network support and host foreign researchers through units such as Welcome Centers. At our University, the Center for Support of Foreign Students and Employees (Welcome Point) has been operating for nearly 5 years, providing assistance to researchers, doctoral students, guests, and foreign students in matters such as employment, legalization of stay, accommodation, work or volunteering for spouses, schooling for children, insurance, and integration with other foreign guests and the university community.

Year by year, Gdańsk Medical University hosts an increasing number of foreign researchers, doctoral students, and students. As part of our Development Strategy, we plan to further expand the circle of foreign talents, to whom, thanks to cooperation and membership in EURAXESS, we aim to provide the best possible support and development of their scientific careers.
